It’s Stoptober time again, and this time VAPING is on the menu!

It’s that time of year again in Great Britain where the Stoptober campaign to quit smoking for 28-days is underway.  The organization is widely supported by many of the country’s leading public health experts and anti-tobacco advocates, and this year organizers are endorsing vaping as an effective way to kick the habit.  In fact, for the very first time, e-cigs are even being promoted this year as a smoking cessation tool in nationwide television commercials.

Smoking rates in England are on a steady and consistent downslide, currently at a 10-year low according to recent research published by Cancer Research UK.  Statistics show that a whopping 19.8 percent of Brits have successfully quit smoking in the first six months of 2017 alone, compared to just 15.7 percent on average over the past decade.

Researchers credit much of this decline in smoking rates to the rising popularity of vaping.  Another recent study published by  Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) even suggests that more British citizens now vape than smoke, and that tobacco purchases have dropped nearly 25 percent between 2013 and 2015.  The 2017 Stoptober campaign is essentially praising vaping for saving perhaps millions of smoking related deaths in the future.

Stoptober organizers offer free online support

In both the TV ads and the online website, Stoptober officials are offering many different methods of support for smokers who are trying to quit.  The driving concept behind the campaign is based on the premise that if a smoker can quit for 28-days in a row, then they are “5 times more likely to quit for good.”

Stoptober is even being promoted and endorsed by the country’s National Health Service (NHS), a federal agency similar to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in American but without the anti-vaping rhetoric.  Forms of free support services include the following, regardless of the smoker’s nation of origin.

  • Free online educational information about the health benefits of vaping and other nicotine replacement therapies like “the patch” and nicotine gums.
  • Free downloadable mobile app to help quitters track their progress.
  • Free face-to-face support services from a reputable expert in smoking cessation and tobacco addiction.
  • Free access to the Stoptober Facebook page to share, learn, and encourage others also taking part in the 28-day quit smoking experiment.
  • Free Facebook chat services to help with cravings and motivation.
  • Free daily emails that offer daily quit-smoking tips and other advice.
  • Free to join, even for Americans or smokers from other nations!

The scientific evidence is in, and researchers across the UK are endorsing vaping as an effective and less harmful alternative to smoking.  In fact, the UK College of Physicians was one of the very first federal agencies on the planet to publicly claim that e-cigs are 95 percent less harmful than smoking. They even claim that vaping helps the poorest, most economically disadvantaged smokers, a population that is often cited by publish health officials as the hardest hit by the ravages of tobacco addiction by far.

For Americans or anyone else wanting to quit smoking permanently, why not sign up today for Stoptober 2017?  What have you got to lose?
